🚦 Locust Eyes Golf Cart & Parking Ordinance Overhaul

Locust Police Chief Jeff Shu is pushing for updated rules on golf carts, scooters, and parking after growing complaints and community confusion.

  • Shu told the Locust Town Council that existing ordinances are outdated as the city grows.
  • He proposed clarifying rules around registration, sidewalk parking, and new scooter-style vehicles like single-wheel rides.
  • A major concern? Cars blocking sidewalks in neighborhoods, forcing kids and families into the street.
  • He also mentioned enforcement issues when golf carts cross or travel along state-maintained roads, where only crossings—not travel—are currently allowed.
  • Council is expected to weigh in further at its next meeting.

🗣️ “As time goes by, we see things change… we want to clean up the verbiage, clarify enforcement, and revise where needed,” said Chief Shu.
