✂️ Ribbon Cut on New Wing at Endy Elementary
A major milestone was celebrated Thursday morning as Stanly County Schools held a ribbon-cutting ceremony for a new 10-classroom addition at Endy Elementary School.
- Superintendent Dr. Jarrod Dennis welcomed community leaders and families, calling the project “more than just bricks and mortar.” “It represents growth, progress, and our continued commitment to the future of our children and our community,” said Dr. Dennis.
- The event was attended by a host of local leaders, including:
- County Commissioners Scott Efird, Billy Mills, Bill Lawhon, and Trent Hatley
- Locust City Councilman Chris Whitley
- Senator Carl Ford from the General Assembly
- Endy’s Mayor and Stanly County School Board members
- Board Chair Robin Whittaker spoke about her personal history with the school: “I was the secretary here when we moved into the current building in 1986. I never imagined I’d one day be back on the board as we cut the ribbon on this newest addition.”
- Whittaker praised the county commissioners and citizens for their support: “This wouldn’t be possible without our taxpayers and county leadership. We are truly thankful.”
- Principal Jody Autry reflected on the excitement from students and staff throughout construction: “From the golden shovel at groundbreaking to the keys in our hands, our students have watched every moment—and they’ve loved every second.”
“They didn’t want to be YouTubers or athletes—our Endy kids wanted to drive bulldozers!”
🟦 Chamber Helps Celebrate
- The Stanly County Chamber of Commerce led the countdown as the ribbon was officially cut.
- Chamber President Erica Church joined others in celebrating the new chapter for Endy Elementary.
- After the ceremony, Commissioner Scott Efird called the expansion “a great project” and praised the school: “The kids and staff are going to be excited. This is really nice.”
