🚨 Arrest Made in Walmart Hit-and-Run
Carol Ann Carpenter of Albemarle has been arrested in connection with Monday evening’s three-car hit-and-run accident in the Walmart parking lot.
- Charges include driving while license revoked, reckless driving, hit-and-run, driving while impaired.
- Carpenter was released on a $2,000 bond.
💊 Traffic Stop Nets Major Drug Bust
A proactive traffic stop in Albemarle led to the arrest of two people and the seizure of dangerous drugs.
- 59 grams of methamphetamine, 10+ grams of fentanyl, multiple prescription medications, and a firearm were confiscated.
- Brandy Sue Tucker (driver) faces multiple drug trafficking charges and is held on a $210,000 bond.
- Darren Lynn Moore, Jr. (passenger) faces several controlled substance charges.
The Stanly County Sheriff’s Office said the operation highlights their “ongoing commitment to combat drug trafficking and ensure the safety of Stanly County residents.”
🏛️ City Council Member Resigns – District 4 Seat Open
Chris Whitley has resigned from the Albemarle City Council to focus on caring for his ill grandson.
- District 4 residents interested in filling the seat should submit a confidential letter with address and qualifications to:

- Requirements: Must be 21+, a registered voter, and a resident of District 4.

🚧 Correction on Coley Store Road Closure Timeline
NCDOT says Coley Store Road in Locust repairs began Thursday and will take at least four weeks.
- Detour: Bethel Church Road, Pond Road, NC 24/27.
- Drivers urged to use caution and expect delays.

State Senator Carl Ford attended the League of Municipalities meeting in Rowan County.
