🌳 Locust’s Officer Jeff Shelton Park Gets $800K Upgrade
Officer Jeff Shelton Park in Locust is set for a major redevelopment, thanks to an $800,000 investment — including a $500,000 state grant.
- The project will feature a universal playground designed for children of all abilities, ADA-compliant restrooms, accessible routes, updated signage, and creek restoration.
- The Officer Jeff Shelton Memorial will remain untouched.
- Work is expected to begin September 1 and be completed within three years.
Parks Director Emily Jones praised the community’s involvement:
“It was a very competitive grant… to know that we had a really successful application was a real pat on the back. We’re thrilled to finally share this and get started.”
