đźš’ New Emergency Training Center Opens in New London
A new chapter in emergency preparedness began this week with the official opening of the North Carolina Emergency Training Center in New London.
Instead of a ribbon cutting, officials marked the occasion with a fire hose uncoupling ceremony.
State leaders including Senate President Pro Tempore Phil Berger and House Speaker Pro Tempore Mitchell Setzer joined local officials and members of the North Carolina Air National Guard and Stanly County Emergency Services for the event.
- The center offers world-class training for firefighters, law enforcement, emergency management, and military personnel.
- Guests witnessed live demonstrations such as aircraft rescue, jet fuel burns, and swift-water rescues using both boats and helicopters.
- Organizers say it’s a “model of partnership and innovation” to ensure North Carolina’s first responders are ready to protect their communities.
More than 275 people attended the event, which also included a barbecue lunch, guest speakers, and volunteers helping throughout the day.
