🏙️ Albemarle Names New Planning and Development Director

The City of Albemarle has selected Alicia Davis Steadman as its new Planning and Development Director.
City Manager Darren Rhodes made the appointment, citing her more than two decades of experience in urban planning, community development, and strategic leadership.

“Alicia’s deep expertise in strategic plan development and community engagement makes her an exceptional fit for Albemarle,” said Rhodes. “Her leadership will be instrumental as we navigate growth through Envision Albemarle 2045, our new comprehensive land use plan.”

Steadman previously served as Assistant Planning Director for the City of Charlotte, where she helped lead the Charlotte Future 2040 comprehensive plan and built partnerships across multiple departments to support its success.

She managed a $2.5 million budget and led efforts to simplify development rules while keeping long-term community goals in focus.

“I see tremendous potential in Albemarle’s growth story,” said Steadman. “I was drawn to this opportunity to help shape a vision that honors Albemarle’s small-town character while guiding thoughtful, inclusive development that strengthens its future.”

She holds certifications and credentials from Duke, Cornell, UNC Chapel Hill, and Georgetown, and begins her new role November 10th.
