đźš” Arrest Made in Domestic Violence Case
Authorities have arrested 38-year-old David Little, who faces multiple charges including:
- False imprisonment
- Two counts of assault on a female
- Communicating threats
- Misdemeanor domestic violence, larceny, and injury to personal property
Little is being held at the Stanly County Detention Center under a $750,000 bond.
🏛️ DMV Seeks Contractor for Troy License Plate Agency
The North Carolina Division of Motor Vehicles is seeking applicants to operate the Troy License Plate Agency when the current contract expires on April 14, 2026.
- The agency is located at 448 Albemarle Road, Suite 1, in Lincoln Plaza, Troy.
- Completed applications are due October 29.
- Applications can be found on the Connect NCDOT website or by calling 919-615-8521.
Meanwhile, the Harrisburg License Plate Agency is being closed following the discovery of several contract violations. The agency had been operated by Sarah James since 2012.
đźš“ Locust Police Department Releases September Report
The Locust Police Department handled 364 dispatch calls in September, including:
- 233 traffic stops
- 2,269 business checks and neighborhood patrols
- 18 arrests resulting in 36 charges
- 20 total traffic crashes — 14 on streets or highways, 6 in parking lots
Officer of the Month: Officer Jerry D. Wallace
- Completed 391 patrols and 49 traffic stops
- Issued 33 warnings, 12 citations, and made 4 arrests
- Received two citizen commendations for community policing efforts
🎓 Stanly Community College Leader Named Trailblazer
Cassidy Bell, Director of Stanly Community College’s Small Business Center, has been named one of Business North Carolina’s 2025 Trailblazers Under 40.
Under her leadership:
- SCC has helped small business owners secure over $1 million in capital
- Supported 11 business launches
- Created 23 local jobs
A proud SCC alumna and UNC Pembroke MBA graduate, Bell said she credits her mother for inspiring her “love of learning and passion for helping others achieve their goals.”
SCC praised Bell’s “visionary leadership and lasting impact” on both the college and community.
🕊️ Montgomery Central Assistant Principal Remembered
Montgomery Central High School is mourning the loss of Assistant Principal Toby McLaurin, who passed away Sunday night following an illness.
McLaurin was remembered for his “infectious humor, unwavering dedication, and giant heart.”
- His educational career spanned more than two decades, touching countless students and colleagues.
- The school is dedicating Homecoming Week to honor his memory and legacy.
đźš— Traffic Safety Checkpoint at South Stanly High
The Stanly County Sheriff’s Office, Norwood Police, and North Carolina Highway Patrol conducted a precautionary checkpoint this week at South Stanly High School.
The brief, 10–15 second stops were educational only, reminding student drivers about:
- Seatbelt and license checks
- Safe driving practices
- Avoiding cellphone use while driving
No enforcement actions were taken.
Local School Receives New American Flag
State Representative Cody Honeycutt visited Locust Elementary School Monday to deliver a brand new American flag from Raleigh, now proudly displayed in front of the school.
