🌆 New Role in Downtown Albemarle

Hartsel named Administrative & Events Coordinator

  • Louisa Jane Hartsell has joined Albemarle Downtown as the new Administrative and Events Coordinator.
  • Born and raised on Main Street in Albemarle, Hartsell brings over 20 years of experience in event planning, community relations, and business leadership.
  • She also owns Hart Soul Funeral Homes and works with Proximity to Humanity, a nonprofit supporting communities in crisis.

📌 Community involvement:

  • Founder and director of Rotary’s Race to Remember 5K for Alzheimer’s, raising over $40,000.
  • Board member with the Stanly Chamber of Commerce and Cabarrus Arts Council.
  • Past volunteer with Habitat for Humanity, the Butterfly House, and Stanly County Chamber.
  • Honored as a Hometown Hero at a Kannapolis Cannon Ballers game.

💬 Hartsell says she’s excited to bring her “energy, creativity, and deep love of her hometown” to downtown Albemarle.


🏫 School Board Work Session Scheduled

The Stanly County Board of Education will meet for a work session Friday, August 22 at 9:00 AM in the Dennis Community Room at Stanly Community College.

  • The meeting will include both open and closed sessions, covering personnel matters and real estate acquisition.

đźšś Big Turnout for Ag Day

A strong crowd came out Saturday for Ag Day at the Stanly County Agri-Civic Center’s Livestock Arena.

  • Families enjoyed livestock shows, farm equipment displays, food trucks, and demonstrations.
  • Director Chris Lambert said the turnout was one of the largest in years.

âš˝ United Way Partnership with NC Courage

United Way of Stanly County took part in a special partnership celebration during Saturday’s North Carolina Courage soccer match.

  • A $20,000 check was presented to support disaster recovery efforts in Western NC.
  • The partnership will boost statewide fundraising, promote volunteerism, and connect fans with meaningful causes.
