🚒 City Council Moves Forward with $2.5M Ladder Truck Purchase
The Albemarle City Council has approved setting up a project budget for a $2.5 million fire department ladder truck.
- City Manager Todd Clark explained that the purchase was anticipated in this year’s budget but requires a separate project ordinance due to its long-term financing needs.
- The truck will be financed through commercial lending and must go through the Local Government Commission for review.
- Mayor Ronnie Michael noted the city previously sought federal grant funding but was unsuccessful.
“This is simply setting up the project ordinance for the finance department,” said Clark.
“It’s going to take a long time to get this truck, so we need to get started now,” added Councilman Chris Bramlett.
