🚨 Search Underway for Armed Woman in Oakboro

The Stanly County Sheriff’s Office issued a public safety alert Thursday during an active search in the Oakboro area.

• Location: South Oak Ridge Road near Peachtree Road
• Suspect: White female, 5’6″, blonde hair, wearing an all-white dress
• Believed to be armed and hiding in a wooded area

Authorities advised the public not to approach the suspect and to call 911 with any sightings or suspicious activity. A photo was released, but as of this report, the subject had not yet been apprehended.

👮‍♀️ Two Women Charged in Armed Robbery and Assault

Two women have been arrested and are facing felony charges:

Ariel Wall, 34
Denise Wall, 32

Both are charged with:
• Assault with a deadly weapon causing serious injury
• Robbery with a dangerous weapon

They are being held under $75,000 bond each at the Stanly County Detention Center.

🚔 Police Chase Ends in DWI Arrest

Jose Pin, 27, was arrested following a police chase and is facing multiple charges:

• Driving While Impaired
• Flee to Elude
• Reckless Driving with Wanton Disregard
• Failure to Heed Lights or Sirens
• No Operator’s License
• Speeding

He is currently being held at the Stanly County Detention Center.

🏗️ Stanly EDC Property Database Tracks 31 Sites

Stanly EDC intern Ryan Ledbetter (UNC) is developing a searchable property database:

31 properties total: 9 sites, 22 buildings
• Sizes range from <10 acres to 100+ acres
• Filterable by size, location, and utility access

Property locations include:
• 15 in Albemarle
• 2 in Badin
• 2 in Norwood
• 1 in New London
• 1 in Locust

The effort aims to streamline site selection for business development in Stanly County.

🚗 Insurance Rates May Rise Under New State Laws

Recent changes to NC insurance laws are likely to impact driver premiums:

Underinsured motorist coverage now required
Violation history tracked longer (5–8 years instead of 3)
Minimum liability coverage raised from $30K/$60K/$25K to $50K/$150K/$25K

While designed for better protection, these changes may mean higher costs, especially for newer drivers and those with past violations.

👋 Sheriff’s Office Welcomes Terry Lu

The Stanly County Sheriff’s Office announced the addition of Terry Lu to the agency team. Welcome aboard!
