⛈️ Storms Cause Damage Across Stanly County
- Powerful rain, wind, and hail rolled through the county on Tuesday
- Stanley Cabinet Company temporarily closed after lightning strike fried their external electrical system
- “They said they’ll remain closed while repairs are being made, but hopefully will be back soon.”
👮 Sheriff Jeff Crisco Elected to Statewide Office
- Stanly County Sheriff Jeff Crisco is now Second Vice President of the North Carolina Sheriffs’ Association
- Announcement came Tuesday at the close of the association’s four-day annual conference
- “A great deal of work was conducted… and numerous training opportunities were available to learn about better ways sheriffs can serve and protect their citizens.”
🔥 Charlotte Firefighters Train in Stanly County
- Charlotte Douglas Airport personnel are undergoing advanced training in Stanly County
- The NC Office of State Fire Marshal’s Emergency Training Center features a full-size aircraft prop and burn pit
- Training meets FAA standards and includes aircraft firefighting, swift water rescue, urban search & rescue, and hazmat response
- “Access to such a facility ensures that airport-assigned personnel are equipped with the skills and experience needed to operate confidently in one of the most high-risk emergency environments.”
- Charlotte Douglas ranks 7th busiest airport in the world for aircraft movements
👮♂️ Norwood Officer Earns DARE Certification
- Officer Cory Colvin of Norwood PD completed an intensive 80-hour DARE certification program
- Program teaches drug resistance, anti-violence, and gang prevention
- Curriculum will be introduced at Norwood Elementary School
🏈 North Stanly Football Team Beautifies Campus
- Comets players volunteered to mulch and landscape parts of their school
- Booster Club thanked Bushwhacker’s Landscaping and Mauney’s for donating materials
- “These boys were taking ownership and showing what it means to be part of North Stanly.”
🎉 90+ Birthday Celebration at Senior Center
- Stanly County Senior Center hosted a magical event for seniors aged 90 and older
- Oldest attendees: Mildred Hathcock (101) and Carl Harkey (93)
- Thanks went out to Albemarle Sweet Shop, Stanly Community College, Dustin Adcock, and American Legion Post 520 for their support
